    6 ta’ Novembru 2018

“Min jiekol il-ħobż fis-Saltna ta’ Alla”. Din hija l-hena li aħna nawguraw lill-isqfijiet, saċerdoti, ir-reliġjizi rġiel u nisa li telqu qabilna bis-sinjal tal-fidi li ħadu fil-Magħmudija, f’din l-aħħar sena.

Nawgurawlhom li huma qegħdin igawdu dik l-istedina sabiħa li nsibu fil-Ktieb tal-Apokalissi: “Henjin dawk li huma mistiedna għall-ikla tat-tieġ tal-Ħaruf għax tassew ħieni min jiekol il-ħobż fis-Saltna ta’ Alla”…

The Gospel of the day: 8th November

  • Saint Luke 15:1-10

Tax collectors and sinners were all drawing near to listen to Jesus, but the Pharisees and scribes began to complain, saying, “This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.” So to them he addressed this parable. “What man among you having a hundred sheep and losing one of them would not leave the ninety-nine in the desert and go after the lost one until he finds it? And when he does find it, he sets it on his shoulders with great joy and, upon his arrival home, he calls together his friends and neighbours and says to them, ‘Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep.’ I tell you, in just the same way there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need of repentance.”

Or what woman having ten coins and losing one would not light a lamp and sweep the house, searching carefully until she finds it? And when she does find it, she calls together her friends and neighbours and says to them, ‘Rejoice with me because I have found the coin that I lost.’ In just the same way, I tell you, there will be rejoicing among the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

The Gospel of the day: 7th November

  • Saint Luke 14:25-33

Great crowds were traveling with Jesus, and he turned and addressed them, “If any one comes to me without hating his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. Whoever does not carry their own cross and follow me cannot be my disciple. Which of you wishing to construct a tower does not first sit down and calculate the cost to see if there is enough for its completion? Otherwise, after laying the foundation and finding himself unable to finish the work the onlookers should laugh at him and say, ‘This one began to build but did not have the resources to finish.’

Or what king marching into battle would not first sit down and decide whether with ten thousand troops he can successfully oppose another king advancing upon him with twenty thousand troops? But if not, while he is still far away, he will send a delegation to ask for peace terms. In the same way, anyone of you who does not renounce all his possessions cannot be my disciple.”

    Għeżież seminaristi,

Illejla l-Knisja qed issejħilkom biex tilqgħu l-Ministeru tal-Akkolitat. Ħa nibdew b’dawn iż-żewġ kelmiet tqal: Ministeru tal-Akkolitat. Kif tafu, il-kelma ‘ministeru’ ġejja mil-Latin minister u li tfisser ‘qaddej’ u tfakkarkom li jekk fil-ħajja tagħkom ma tilqgħux din il-vokazzjoni ta’ qadi li l-Mulej qed isejħilkom għaliha, tkunu fil-periklu li dak kollu li tmissu ma jagħmilx frott…

Il-Papa Franġisku, fl-eżortazzjoni appostolika Ifirħu u Thennew (par. 144) jitkellem fuq il-valur tad-dettalji ċ-ċkejknin. Jgħid li fl-Evanġelju naraw kif Ġesù kemm-il darba stieden lid-dixxipli tiegħu biex jaraw id-dettalji, pereżempju, in-nagħġa waħda minn mija li spiċċat mitlufa, iż-żewġ muniti li l-mara tefgħet fit-tempju meta ħaddieħor kien qed jitfa’ ħafna flus, u diversi oħrajn…
