350 MALTESE ON PILGRIMAGE IN LOURDES

On Wednesday 31st August 2011, Archbishop Paul Cremona O.P. left Malta to travel to Lourdes to lead a pilgrimage organized by the Lourdes Voluntary Association. Attending this pilgrimage are 350 people, which include 120 patients, 6 doctors, 12 nurses, a therapist and a pharmacist. Besides this, each patient will be accompanied by a helper.

THREE MONTHS BEFORE PAPAL VISIT, BENIN VOTES TO END DEATH PENALTY

Benin took a step toward becoming the 17th African state to abolish the death penalty, as Benedict XVI prepares to visit the nation in November.

On Aug. 19, Benin’s national assembly voted to join an international protocol that calls for the death penalty to be abolished. With the president’s ratification, it will be the 74th nation to join the agreement.

Youth Celebrate Faith and Culture

On Sunday 21st August 2011, the 26th edition of the World Youth Day was marked in Cuatro Vientos Airfied, Madrid. Two million young people from all over the world participated in the event, including over 600 from Malta and Gozo.
