The Pope stated this today at a Mass at the Eleftheria Sports Centre in Nicosia, in which he presented the “instrumentum laboris” (working document) for the Special Assembly for the Middle East of the Synod of Bishops, which will take place in Rome next October 10-24… Read more »

Luqa 9,11-17

But the crowds got to know and they went after him. He made them welcome and talked to them about the kingdom of God; and he cured those who were in need of healing. It was late afternoon when the Twelve came up to him and said, ‘Send the people away, and they can go to the villages and farms round about to find lodging and food; for we are in a lonely place here.’  He replied, ‘Give them something to eat yourselves.’ But they said, ‘We have no more than five loaves and two fish, unless we are to go ourselves and buy food for all these people.’ For there were about five thousand men… Read more »

NEW MEDIA HAS “EXTRAORDINARY POTENTIAL” FOR EVANGELISATION

new media

New media have the “extraordinary potential” to bring the message of Christ to more and more people, says Benedict XVI.

The Pope said this today at the general audience in St. Peter’s Square in which he offered a long-distance greeting to those who are participating in the Catholic Media Convention, under way through Friday in New Orleans.

The theme of the convention, sponsored by the Catholic Press Association of the United States and Canada, has as its theme “Spreading the Good News — Byte by Byte.”

The Pope said the theme “highlights the extraordinary potential of the new media to bring the message of Christ and the teaching of his Church to the attention of a wider public.”

He continued: “If your mission is to be truly effective — if the words you proclaim are to touch hearts, engage people’s freedom and change their lives — you must draw them into an encounter with persons and communities who witness to the grace of Christ by their faith and their lives… Read more »

Mark 12,35-37

While teaching in the Temple, Jesus said, ‘How can the scribes maintain that the Christ is the son of David? David himself, moved by the Holy Spirit, said: The Lord declared to my Lord, take your seat at my right hand till I have made your enemies your footstool. David himself calls him Lord; in what way then can he be his son?’ And the great crowd listened to him with delight… Read more »
